Before I had my daughter, I LOVED to run. I ran not for competition, but for me. It was my stress relief. I didn't run in a group or with a friend just by myself. So freeing, I could set my own pace, turn up the music and just run. When I got pregnant I asked my OBGYN about running and he said to me, "it might not be the best idea."
He said, "you might want to just walk."
I ran at first, but boy I got tired a lot quicker. As my pregnancy continued, I couldn't run/walk far from home because I had to go to the bathroom so often. My husband said, "just keep going around the small block several times so when you need to go to the bathroom you can stop at the house and go." He is a genius that husband of mine. I took his advice.
After I had my c-section and later after being released from the locked up psych ward, I had such an energy to run. But my body was not ready. I would walk. Pack my baby in the stroller and walk 2-3xday. As I walked and listened to music, once my maker spoke to me and said, "You need to learn to WALK and not always RUN.
Wow! I have not picked up running again, but it is still in my blood. It's okay to walk. It's okay to BE STILL. Sometimes it is more difficult to walk and not run, but it's oKay. "Be still and know that I am God." Not easy to be still, but neither is life. For now I will try to be still and walk and when the time comes I will run again.
